SSI-I ENGAGEMENTS

May 2019:

SSI-I Executive Board meeting held in Cochin, Kerala.

April 2019:

SSI-I organized a buyer seller meet of spices in Shillong for Meghalaya Basin Development Authority.

Feb 2019:

SSI-I participated in Spice buyer seller meeting at Vijayawada, organized by horticultural department of Andhra Pradesh.

January 2019:

SSI-I participated in the food safety conclave organized by Spices board and US-FDA.

December 2018:

  • SSI-I team visited SEWA’s Rudi processing centres.
  • Visited Meghalaya to scope value chain development for key spices.

November 2018:

  • GAP analysis on ZBNF and SSI-I principles completed.
  • Sustainable Agricultural Practices handbook published by SSI.
  • Field visit conducted by the SSI-I team in Bellary, Karnataka for sustainable chili production.

October 2018:

  • Audit completed for PRDIS chili project in Khammam, Telangana.
  • Coriander project started with Azad Agro in Rajasthan.

September 2018

SSI-I conducted a Gap Study to identify existing gaps between Zero-Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) and SSI-I principles.

SSI-I conducted the quarterly members’ meeting to discuss the future roadmap.

PRDIS started the project to train chili farmers for the season.

STAC started the project to train turmeric farmers for the season.

  • Represented SSI-I at a roundtable conducted GIZ on biodiversity in spices production.

Presented at International Spices Conference 2018 in Jaipur, Rajasthan organized by All India Spices Exporters Forum, to engage with spices companies working in sustainability sector.

  • Meeting with Department of Horticulture, Karnataka government for PPP-IHD and FPO to explore public private partnership with the Government of Karnataka.

  • Engaged with the Agricultural Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand for exploring sustainable intervention opportunities in the agriculture sector in Uttarakhand.
  • Attended MoU Signing event between 2030WRG and Karnataka State government, where SSI-I presented to explore opportunities in spices in North Karnataka.

June 2017:

  • Meeting with the Spice Board of India to discuss opportunities for sustainable practices in Cardamom.
  • Meeting with Department of Horticulture, Karnataka government for PPP-IHD and FPO to explore public private partnership with the Government of Karnataka.
  • Meetings with leading spices organizations including Olam International, Kancor Ingredients, Jayanti Herbs & Spices, Nestle India, Nedspices Pvt. Ltd., Nani Agro, Plant Lipid, Akay Flavors, Eastern, Griffith Foods, MTR, ITC Limited, to discuss their participation in the multi-stakeholder platform.

May 2017:

Engaged with ICAR to develop Package of Practice (PoP) for sustainable production of cumin, chili, coriander and turmeric farming and requested IISR to review and validate.

April 2017:

SSI-I engaged with IFAD to explore opportunities for sustainable spices production in the North East.
